After two and a half years on the Hill, Mia’s Coffeehouse (101 15th St. NE) owner Jeff Lee announced that the cafe would be officially closed, effective immediately.
“We have officially closed Mia’s Coffeehouse,” Lee wrote in an email to the Hill Rag. “We enjoyed serving the Hill East neighborhood and all the wonderful customers that came to support us but the challenge with staffing and us living so far away made us rethink of our priorities.”
Lee lives in Maryland, about 65 miles from his business.
“I will be taking a mini hiatus from the food industry and then deciding my course there after.”
The decision to permanently close Mia’s Coffeehouse comes after the shop hours had been shortened over the past winter.
Mia’s opened in June 2015 and served coffee, tea and sandwiches. There is no word yet on what will happen next with the space.
