Join Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones and George Mason University Professor Dr. Michael Fauntroy for conversation about history, voting rights and political power ahead of the midterm elections this fall.
The event will take place at Westminster Church (400 I St. SW) on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Hannah-Jones has warned that the United States may be entering a second Nadir, invoking the post-Reconstruction era when historic gains in Black citizenship, voting, political representation and civil rights were systematically rolled back as federal protections receded. Through discussion, Hannah-Jones and Fauntroy will together explore preventing a second Nadir, not simply by restoring what has been lost, but by imagining a stronger and more durable agenda for race, rights and democracy.
Registration is encouraged, but not required. RSVP to attend here. Visit www.pearlescapeproject.com to learn more.
