Do you wanna dance? There are two opportunities every month, brought to you by the Capitol Hillbillies.
Every second monday of the month, hit up the Capitol Hill Cajun Dance. The next one is on Sept. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hill Center (921 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE). Kick up your heals on a wood floor with an open Band. Admission is free, but donations and snacks are welcome. Follow the sound of a good time to Benjamin Drummond Hall (first floor). There’s metered parking on Penn, or park for free two blocks away at Shirley Chisholm Elementary School (Tenth and G Streets SE). Have to miss this cajun dance? It happens again Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14, same time and place!
Or get into the swing of things when the Capitol Hillbillies host the Capitol Hill Swing Dance at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (301 A St. SE) every third Thursday. The next one is Sept. 17 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission: $10, teens $5. The October dance is Oct. 22 (a fourth Thursday, because Halloween stuff gets in the way) and next after on Nov. 19.
