Greetings from CHRS!
The CHRS Annual House and Garden Tour is coming up! This year it will be on May 9th and 10th, Mother’s Day weekend, which is our tradition. We are writing because you have so generously volunteered your time on past house tours or have expressed interest in getting involved in the work of CHRS. We hope that you might be interested and available to serve as a house docent for this year’s tour.
Docents are an essential component of the house tour. They help with check-in at each home, keep the traffic flowing through each home, and add a layer of protection for the homeowners. As important as the task is, it’s also fun to be in an interesting Capitol Hill home and greet visitors – many of whom may be old friends and neighbors or familiar faces you’ve passed in the neighborhood.
We ask each docent to serve on the day and time slot of their choice. All docents will be given a free ticket to visit the other tour stops during the weekend.
Docent shifts are (you’ll be asked to arrive shortly before the start of your shift):
– Saturday, May 9th, 4:00 – 7:00 PM
– Sunday, May 10th, 1:00 – 3:00 PM or 3:00 – 5:00 PM (or both)
If you’d like to be a docent on the tour this year, please use this link to sign up:
If you need to be seated for all or most of the time, please let us know, that can be easily arranged. And if you have friends who’d like to join you, we would love to have them. Any questions and/or special requests, please contact the CHRS House Tour Committee at: caphillhousetour@gmail.com
Please let us know if you are interested! We are eager to get docent schedules in place and figure out what staffing gaps we might have. We will send you a follow-up note closer to tour time.
Thank you!
Angie Schmidt, President, CHRS
