March in the 2024 Capitol Hill July 4th Parade

The 22nd annual Capitol Hill Community Capitil Hill July 4th Parade is a local tradition that is considered one of Washington DC’s best events. The traditional parade will take place on Capitol Hill’s Barracks Row this year.

Get your groups together and join in on the fun! Last year the Eastern Marching Band led the colorful celebration as it marched down Barracks Row.

Eastern’s Blue and White Marching Machine led the 2023 July 4 parade.

The parade features school groups, local organizations, businesses and of course the Men in Blue tossing candy to the crowd. Local politicians also fall in line for the parade –Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) has herself marched in the parade for the past several years. Get your groups together and join in on the fun! Register your group here.

The parade traditionally starts at Eighth and I Streets SE at 10 a.m., proceeding along Barracks Row to conclude at Eastern Market Metro Plaza.

Help Set A Guiness World Record!

In 2024, Barracks Row Main Street is organizing a record setting event immediately following the parade. They will try to break the record for the largest human-shaped ice cream cone! They will set up at the Metro plaza with volunteers helping to organize all the participants to create the shape of the ice cream cone.

Register groups to march or register vehicles that will be in the parade.
