MPD Arrest Two – Aged 9 and 13 – in Attempted Robbery

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) First District have arrested two juveniles who attempted to rob a woman on the 500 block of Tenth Street NE.

On Friday, Jan. 26, at around 12:40 a.m., the suspects approached a woman on the street. One of the suspects assaulted her and tried to grab her purse. The victim pepper-sprayed one of the suspects. The other suspect pulled out a knife and lunged at the victim multiple times.

The victim was able to call 911. The responding officers arrested both suspects.

A 9-year-old juvenile male and a 13-year-old juvenile male both of Northeast, DC were arrested. They were charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery While Armed (Knife).

MPD currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
