Police Seek Suspect in Dec. 26 Southwest Killing

A man is dead and police seek a suspect after a shooting in Southwest early the morning after Christmas.

Around 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023,Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch went to the 600 block of Maryland Avenue SW, responding to calls for a shooting.

When they got there, officers found a man with gunshot wound injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
