Where are you going to go to find more than 2,200 games on the Hill this weekend? Labyrinth, of course!

On September 9 and 10, Labyrinth Games & Puzzles (645 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) will host their 11th annual Used Game Sale.

It’s even bigger than the Saturday before Christmas, says Labyrinth owner Kathleen Donahue. All employees will work this weekend, as well as 15 volunteers, many of whom return year after year. Hundreds of customers attend in search of games at bargain prices.

You can see the full list of games and the schedule for the sale online. Some games are sold at auction while others are available at the rummage sale.

It’s a huge effort. Beginning in July, Labyrinth invites DCarea gamers to assess their collections. More than 220 sellers selected and registered their games so that Labyrinth can sell the games on their behalf.

Proceeds from the sale go to supporting Labyrinth’s community outreach programs, particularly the Labyrinth Local Teacher Fund, which has provided games to every Hill school and, Donahue estimates, 75 percent of District schools. Last year the sale raised over $15,000 for the fund, school and community game nights, and the store’s free board game library.

Each day of the sale brings opportunity: Saturday, Sept. 9 is the Live Auction, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Make the highest offer to win. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, take part in the Silent and Sealed Auctions. Add your best offer to a game’s bid sheet (Silent Auction) or drop a secret bid into its bag (Sealed Auction).

Finally, on Sunday, Sept. 10, get great deals on games at Labyrinth’s famous Rummage Sale, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Over 1,600 value-priced games will be for sale. Prices will decrease all day, dropping at 2 p.m. and again at 4 p.m.
