Police announced that an arrest has been made in reference to the murder of 17-year-old Brendan Ofori on a Metro car as it pulled into Waterfront Station May 28.
Police said the suspect got on the train at L’Enfant Plaza Station. He got in an altercation with the victim which escalated while on the train. As the train pulled into Waterfront, the next station southbound, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim before exiting the system.
Police were called as the train pulled into Navy Yard Station, where DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DC FEMS) found no signs of life. Ofori was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police issued photos and description of the suspect shortly thereafter.
On Friday, June 9, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested a 23-year-old Southeast man. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed and Felony Murder.
