Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch announced that an arrest has been made in a homicide that happened on Tuesday, March 7 on the 1100 block of D Street NE.

The decedent was identified as 30-year-old Andrea Bond, of Northeast DC.

On Tuesday, May 2, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested a 31-year-old Northwest man. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.

The detectives’ investigation revealed this offense was domestic in nature.

Initially, police were not sure whether Bond was stabbed on site or elsewhere and had gone home without seeking medical attention.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., First District officers responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. According to the police report, when officers got there, they found a woman in the living room suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper left chest.

They called DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) who came to the scene. They found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).

On Wednesday, March 8, OCME determined the case should be investigated as a homicide.
