Parker & Ace, a full-service, membership-based veterinary clinic, will debut its first location in the country in Washington, DC’s H Street neighborhood, officially opening its doors on April 14 at 501 H St. NE.
On Saturday, April 29 from 4 to 6 p.m., Parker & Ace will welcome the local community for Pet ”
Paw-traits” with a live caricature artist onsite to draw furry friends.
Designed with pets and their parents in mind, Parker & Ace is a next-gen pet wellness concept that modernizes the traditional veterinary experience, offering members peace of mind with same- and next-day appointments and 24/7 telehealth.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), nearly 40 percent of DC residents own a pet, nearly twice as many as the decade before. Today, pets have become a bigger part of the family, with the AVMA finding that 85 percent of dog-owners and 76 percent of cat-owners think of their pets as family. Parker & Ace was built to meet the needs of today’s modern pet family, by marrying the personalization and comfort of a neighborhood clinic with high-touch, best-in-class care.
Parker & Ace Co-Founder and CEO Alexis McLaughlin is herself a longtime pet parent to Lily the Goldendoodle. She created Parker & Ace to solve the many challenges she faced at the veterinarian’s office. She lists cumbersome appointment processes, surprising and unexpected bills to outdated offices and equipment. She said she knew that the time had come for the industry to do a better job of meeting consumer needs.
“At Parker & Ace, we’ve set out to change the traditional, antiquated experience of taking your pet to the vet–which can be impersonal, confusing and stressful,” said McLaughlin. “The Parker & Ace experience takes the guesswork out of your pet’s health, with expert care you can trust, clear pricing you understand, and state-of-the-art capabilities – all at your neighborhood vet.”
Founding memberships are currently being offered at $159 per pet, which includes complimentary exam fees plus access to a comprehensive suite of services, including preventative and wellness care, sick patient and urgent care visits, as well as dental services and an on-premise pharmacy.
Parker & Ace has an on-site surgery suite and laboratory complete with digital radiology and ultrasound equipment for diagnostic testing. Parker & Ace has a mobile site for convenient scheduling, access to medical records, virtual care and more. The tech-enabled clinic and low stress approach is intended to elevate not only the parent’s and the pet’s experience but that of the veterinary team as well. Staff say the membership model means that the team is able to spend more time caring for members, providing dedicated, personalized attention to each and every pet.
Parker & Ace’s H Street location will be led by Dr. Adam Chung, who was trained in both
general practice and emergency medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Chung brings extensive experience working with dogs and cats to Parker & Ace, where he will lead the team practicing preventative medicine, tending to urgent needs, and promoting minimally invasive procedures.
“Parker & Ace was built from the vantage point of giving your pet high-quality preventative care,” said Dr. Chung, “and being proactive when it comes to your pet’s health is a simple way to give your pet a better life.”
