Police Seek Rider in Attempted Rideshare Carjacking

Police are looking for a suspect after a rideshare driver avoided being carjacked Friday near Congressional Cemetery.

It happened in the very early hours of Friday, March 17, on the 1700 block of Potomac Avenue SE.

At approximately 3:02 a.m., the rideshare driver was driving in the area when his passenger brandished a handgun and assaulted the victim.

The suspect then demanded the victim and for the victim to exit the vehicle. The victim did not get out of his car, but the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s keys. The driver experience non-life threatening injuries.

Images of the suspect can be seen in the photos above. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District are seeking the public’s assistance in locating or identifying the suspect.
