Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, March 7 on the 1100 block of D Street NE.
At approximately 2:55 p.m., First District officers responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious person. According to the police report, when officers got there, they found a woman in the living room suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper left chest.
They called DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) who came to the scene. they found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).
On Wednesday, March 8, OCME determined the case should be investigated as a homicide.
It is unclear whether the woman was stabbed on site or elsewhere and had proceeded home without seeking medical attention. Police are investigating the case and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Andrea Bond, of Northeast DC.
MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
