The newly-created Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 8F will hold its first meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. It will be held in person in Room 124 of District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Headquarters (250 M St. SE).

At that meeting, the full commission will vote on the calendar of meetings for the year. Meetings are expected to take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month moving forward, with exceptions for religious and government holidays.

New officers will also be elected at the Jan. 24 meeting, and a presentation on public safety heard from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). DDOT will also offer an update on the M Street SE Corridor Safety Project.

ANC 8F emcompasses Navy Yard from Virginia Avenue SE to the River, between South Capitol and 11th Street SE. The ANC includes parts of two ward, with commissioners representing portions of Navy Yard that were redistricted into Ward 8 in 2022, as well as two Single Member Districts (SMDs) from Ward 6, 8F05 and 8F04. These are sometimes called the “notch”, and are located between New Jersey Avenue, M St. SE, New Jersey Avenue and South Capitol Street SE.

Community concerns that residents would like addressed by ANC 8F should be submitted to their office, in writing, at least 48 hours in advance.
