The Parkside community is getting a new park, and they need your help to build it.

After rain and permit delays postponed the initial timeline earlier this month, construction will now kick off Friday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will help install a new playground and adventure course at Parkside (685 Kenilworth Ter NE).

80 volunteers are needed to assemble and install equipment and mix concrete for the project. To participate, volunteers must be of legal working age or older. Anyone under the age of 18 must be dropped off by a parent or legal guardian who can sign a liability waiver. Volunteers are welcomed to participate for a full or half day.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided from Compass Coffee (Navy Yard), Costco (Dakota Crossing), Matchbox Pizza of Capitol Hill, Call Your Mother Deli (Capitol Hill), Jersey Mike’s (Dakota Crossing), Chipotle, Wegman’s (City Ridge DC – Wisconsin Ave), Palantir Technologies Inc and DC PalNoir Affinity Group.

A second day of construction will take place on Dec. 21 or Jan. 3, dependent on the weather, and the dog park and pavilion is scheduled to be installed in January.

If you plan to participate, coordinators request that you send your name, email address  and cell phone number here by Thursday Dec. 15.
