Eastern High Homecoming Parade Saturday

This weekend, Eastern High School (1700 E Capitol St. NE) will have their a homecoming parade around Capitol Hill in advance of the football game on Saturday, Oct 8.
The parade takes place between 9:30 a.m. and noon along portions of 19th Street, C Street, North Carolina Ave and East Capitol Street and around Lincoln Park.
A football game between Eastern and Woodson High School begins at 12 p.m.
The school wants to prepare neighbors for the impact on parking and traffic asthe community supports school spirit, sports and celebration.
A large area of temporary no-parking restrictions will begin along the parade route from 2 am to noon Saturday.  There will also be road closures from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Vehicles in the temporary no parking areas are likely to be towed and re-located but are not expected to be ticketed. The football game is also expected to bring increased cars parking in the area as fans come from the area.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 2:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. and closed to vehicle traffic from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

  • 19th Street from East Capitol Street to C Street, NE
  • C Street from 19th Street to 16th Street, NE
  • North Carolina Ave from 16th Street to 13th Street, NE
  • East Capitol Street from 19th Street to 11th Street, NE
  • 11th Street from Massachusetts Avenue, NE to North Carolina Avenue, SE
  • East Capitol Street from 11th Street to 13th Street, SE
  • 13th Street from Massachusetts Avenue, SE to North Carolina Avenue, NE
