Art All Night Comes to Barracks Row Friday

Art All Night makes its debut on Barracks Row Main Street on Friday, September 23rd, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m..

Art All Night celebrates the performing and visual arts, showcasing the diverse talents of our city’s creative community. Barracks Row Main Street’s Art All Night 2022 will be an evening filled with art, local music, and film experiences all along 8th Street SE on Capitol Hill and down to Capitol Riverfront.

The 2022 Art All Night Festival is funded by the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities and is made possible by the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development.

All Art All Night DC events on Barracks Row are free and open to the public, and no reservations or tickets are required.

Start at the Artist Circle and Welcome Center at Eastern Market Metro Plaza Park (EMMP), open from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m. See the Ice Sculpture Demonstration by Hot Ice Sculptures, Musical performances from Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a Live Bollywood performance from SAPAN, The South Asian Performing Arts Network & Institute from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EMMP will also host live art demonstrations from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

See the Air Force 1 Ice Sculpture by Hot Ice Inc. at Sole Wash (427 8th St SE) and Sneaker Cleaning Mini Demo Sessions by Sole Wash “Sneaker Laundry”. Also check out the “Silhouettes” Sneaker Art Exhibit by Just Ro

Films at The Miracle Theatre (535 8th St SE) at 4:30 p.m and 7:30 p.m. include DC League of Super-Pets (rated PG) and ELVIS (PG-13).

Over at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW, 545 Seventh St. SE) from 4:00 pm to 9:00 p.m., check out The 50 States Project: The Hum of the Road – Paintings by Kate Fleming & Photographs by Tom Woodruff.

And celebrate the legacy of the navy at The U.S. Navy Museum (736 Sicard St SE), meditate over a beer with Meditation Art from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Ugly Mug (723 8th St SE,)

And, at Crazy Aunt Helen’s (713 Eighth St. SE) celebrate Artist Happy Hour from 5 p. m. to 7 p.m. Meet the artist Geancarlos Martinez also known as THERE Alone +. Geancarlos Martinez is a self taught Dominican muralist and abstract visual artist, based in the District. He is known for his renderings of natural imagery- silhouetted plant designs flow from his brush, uniquely stretching over surfaces. Then stay for Friday Night Trivia at 9 p.m., with Host Tara Hoot. It’s free to play.

Pop into The Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital  (921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) from 6 to 8:00 p.m. to view their newly installed show, the 2022 Fall Solo Exhibitions. Enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco as you walk the halls of this historic building that will host exhibitions by 10 local artists. From colorful acrylic portraits to stunning photographs of our city, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Entrance is free and all art will be available for purchase.  At As You Are (500 Eighth St. SE) celebrate Power Hour Upstairs. Get a $20 wristband for open bar including Miller lite, Corona, and rail mixed drinks for 1 hour! Warm the dance floor up every Friday and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 p.m.

Check out the Emblem Plaza in Capitol Riverfront (801 Virginia Ave. SE) where from 6:00 pm to  9:00 pm you can experience a night on Lower Barracks Row full of Art, Community, Performances, & Fun. Featuring Crush Funk Brass Band, the Sharon Thomas Experience, Heru Peacock the Hip-Hop Violinist, hula artists, jugglers, light projections, murals, giveaways and more.
