Police Make Arrest in Monday Armed Carjacking

On Wednesday, Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest was made in an armed carjacking and a robbery that happened two days earlier, on Monday, August 29.

At around 11:06 p.m. Monday, police say the suspect exited a vehicle and approached the victim in the 500 block of G Street SW. He showed a gun and robbed the victim. The victim then fled the scene and the suspect fled the scene in another car.

Not quite fifteen minutes later, at 11:19 pm, the suspect exited the vehicle and approached another person seated in their car on the 1300 block of Potomac Avenue SE. He pointed a gun and demanded the victim exit the vehicle. The victim got out, and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, an 18-year-old Southeast man and a 16-year-old juvenile male from Northeast were arrested and charged in these crimes.
