The National Air and Space Museum (655 Jefferson Drive SW) will reopen Oct. 14 with the first eight of the new galleries. Free timed-entry passes will be required for all visitors.

The Smithsonian is expecting tremendous demand and will require visitors to obtain free timed passes.

Free passes will be available to reserve starting Sept. 14. Additional information on where and how to get passes online will be released in the coming weeks.

A multi-year renovation began in 2018. All 23 exhibitions were completely reimagined, with new presentation spaces and attractions. “Transforming every visitor’s experience, the museum will use creative and dynamic techniques to engage visitors while they are at the museum and after they leave,” the museum said on the website.
