What You Need to Know: Monday Traffic Closures

As preparations for the Something in the Water Music Festival begin, road closures and restrictions will begin Monday, June 13, 2022.

There are also rolling street Closures southbound of First Street NE from Columbus Circle and in the area of the Supreme Court as the Shut Down the Supreme Court event takes place. Monday is the first day of deliberations amongst justices and the protests are being staged in light of reports that the justices are prepared to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Such a ruling would end a half-century of constitutional protection of abortion rights.

The SITW festival will take place Friday June 17 through Sunday June 19, 2022 and will feature a variety of artists including Pharell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Q-Tip and many more.

Beginning Monday, June 13, 2022 at 6:00 a.m through Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 6:00 a.m., C Street between 4th Street and 6th Street SW will be posted as emergency no parking. Additionally, the following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from Monday, June 13, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. through Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 6:00 a.m:

  • Independence Avenue between 3rd Street and 7th Street SW
  • 3rd Street between Maryland Avenue, NW to C Street SW
  • Maryland Avenue between 3rd Street and Independence Avenue SW

DC residents should expect road closures and parking restrictions to continue throughout the week until Tuesday June 21, 2022 as set up and tear down of the festival take place. Find more information about closures and restrictions in your area here.
