DC Opens Spray Parks Early for Hot Weekend Ahead

DC DPR Will Operate Spray Parks Saturday and Sunday in Face of Hot, Hot Weekend Temps

There are some hot days ahead!!

With temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s this weekend, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is opening some neighborhood spray parks earlier than the scheduled May 28 date.

Instead, parks will be open on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm. They’ll be closed again Monday May 23, when DC DPT will get ready for the originally-planned opening at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28.

In Ward 6, the following spray parks will be open this weekend:

  • Eastern Market Metro Plaza Park (701 Pennsylvania Ave. SE)
  • Potomac Avenue Triangle Park (1216 Potomac Ave. SE)
  • Watkins Spray Park (at Watkins Elementary on the field side, 420 12th St. SE)

Spray parks open the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and are open every day until Labor Day. After May 28, spray parks will operate 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily.
