Jade Fitness is celebrating a grand reopening –and you’re invited!
From April 4 to 8, group fitness classes at the Pennsylvania Avenue fitness club are free. At the end of the week, get together and raise a toast to the end of the week and to new beginnings and new friends with a social hour starting 5 p.m. Friday, April 8
Jade was actually closed for part of 2020. So Jade (1310 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) is celebrating the reopening of the world as much as of the fitness club, said co-owner Jesse Heier.
“We went back and forth, trying to decide what to call it,” Heier said, “is it a revival? ”
But whatever the title, Heier is sure of it’s a celebration.”It’s a chance to turn the page and come together again and celebrate what is hopefully the end of the the pandemic,” he said.
Opening Doors to Neighborhood
In the pre-pandemic days, Heier said, Jade was open to the community. Community members were going in and out from morning to evening, working out and making connections. “Jade Fitness has always been about Capitol Hill and that’s what people like most,” he said. Customers work out with people they see at the grocery store or while walking their dogs. They also meet new people and make new friends that are neighbors.
The gym has not yet resumed their early morning classes. Heier said that with work habits disrupted, exercise habits are also changing. Jade wants to meet those needs, and so over this week they want to hear from neighbors about where they are and what makes the most sense to them.
Reconnect
Many Jade regulars haven’t seen one another in while. Heier encourages everyone to come to the social hour at Jade starting at 5 p.m. Friday, April 8. In the past, he said, Jade has been a spot full of friends. “Everyone is happy, chatty and know each other,” he said.
The community is welcome to come and say “Hi”, Heier said. “It’s just a way to reconnect and catch up,” he said, with new instructors and old friends.
