A 30-year-old woman was shot Thursday evening while seated in her car on 18th Street near Benning Road NE. Police confirmed that her two children were also in the vehicle at the time.
Police arrived on the 700 block of 18th Street NE at around 6:03 p.m., responding to reports of gunshots.
Officers found 30-year-old Deshawn Cupid inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
Police said the two children were unharmed. The ages of the children have not yet been disclosed by police.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating. This story is developing.
MPD currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
