A combination of issues made it difficult for many suppliers to get holiday treees this year. There was the 2012 drought, augmented by less rain than usual over the last two years. Pile pandemic-related supply chain and labor shortages on that, and you’ll see why you won’t want to wait to get your trees this year.

Fortunately, there’s a whole host of places where you can inhale the fresh scent of the holiday season. Don’t wait: preorder has already started for many school fundraisers.

Capitol Hill Scouts Christmas Trees, Wreaths & Tabletop Trees | 212 East Capitol St Lutheran Church of the Reformation | Fri Dec 3 through Sun Dec 5

Every year Boy Scout Troop 500 and Pack 230 host a tree sale at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation (212 E. Capitol St. NE). Except: it almost didn’t happen this year. Their usual supplier just couldn’t come through with the green. But troop leader Del Voss wouldn’t ‘bough’ to tree pressures. He and a friend drove out to Union County, PA to bring home holiday supplies from what is billed as the larges holiday tree auction in the world. The result, Voss said, is a wider variety of trees as large as ten feet. Find trees, Wreaths & Tabletop trees.
