Kevin Tien wants to help shore up efforts to fight food insecurity. He’s going to come cook dinner in one lucky winner’s home to drive donations to efforts to feed families in the DMV.
COVID-19 created an unprecedented need for food assistance across the country, with many experiencing nutrition insecurities for the first time.
Despite the gradual reopening all over the greater DC area, the economic recovery is not the same for all. Families with children have been especially hard-hit by job losses and school closures.
The lack of access to nutritious foods has led to a steep rise in obesity among children, with diet-related conditions like Type II diabetes, heart disease, and obesity-related cancers also on the rise.
You can join Moon Rabbit Chef Kevin Tien in helping those who need it most. He’s teaming up with Real Food for Kids: Chefs Feeding Families -an initiative with area chefs and restaurants to provide free grab-and-go meals and chef-inspired meal kits to local DMV families in need impacted by the pandemic –to help raise funds.
Chefs Feeding Families has served over 165,000 plant-forward prepared meals and chef-inspired meal kits from as many as 23 sites in the DMV since its launch in March 2020.
When you donate to their efforts, you can enter to win a private dinner prepared by Chef Tien in your own home, featuring food, wine and up to 7 friends.
The Private Chef and Wine-Guided Evening includes:
- A private four-course meal for up to 8 people prepared by award-winning Moon Rabbit chef Kevin Tien in the comfort of your own home
- A private wine tasting for up to 8 people led by Siema Wine’s Nick Materese.
The meal will reflect Tien’s life experience–a finely tuned combination of Japanese, Vietnamese, and Latin American influences. The tasting can be a separate event from the Private Chef Dinner, or done in conjunction with it. It features an assortment of Siema Wines’ favorites from small, family-owned wineries and vineyards from across the globe. Sommelier Nick Materese will lead the winner and guests through a tasting of 5 to 8 wines.
Approximate retail value of the prize is $3,500.
