Two Shootings in Hill East Sunday

An adult woman and a young man were the victims of gun violence in Hill East Sunday.

At about 3:30 p.m., police were called to the corner of 18th and Bay Streets. An adult woman was shot in the leg. Five hours later, police went to 16th and A Streets SE where a young man, possibly in his late teens, was suffering from similar injuries.

A lookout was issued in the first shooting for a black male about 20 years old, driving a green sedan. The vehicle was last seen in the 200 block of 19th Street SE.

 

A third person was shot in the leg in Southwest later the same day. At around 8:30 p.m., First District officers responded to the intersection of First and P Street SW for a report of a shooting.  When they arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.  Fortunately, the victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect in the southwest shooting drove a dark-colored Nissan Altima, and fled the area southbound. That vehicle was later recovered after the driver crashed on the I295 near the 11th Street Bridge around 9 p.m.. The car rolled over and the occupants fled. Police recovered the vehicle along with three weapons that were left behind.
