A November Book Club for the District

573

It’s time to join a one-time District-wide book club!

This November, the Library is hosting DC Reads, an annual program that promotes citywide conversations focused on a single book. This year, the Library has selected Good Talk by Mira Jacob.

Good Talk is a graphic memoir that explores the art of the challenging conversation between a parent and child. As children grow and ask more questions about race, identity and the world around them, each parent has to draw on their own past experiences and lessons learned to inform how they respond. As caregivers know, this sometimes has mixed results and Good Talk weaves in the sometimes difficult, sometimes touching and often humorous conversations that are the hallmark of the parent-child bond.
