The District has announced a new grant program for local restaurants to help them survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
“(The grant) will provide a one time grant to restaurants who are operating as a streatery or who have a summer garden,” said Acting Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) John Falcicchio at the Mayor’s Sept. 21 Situational Update. “Basically any restaurant that has outdoor dining will be able to apply, and we are eliminating it to restaurants that are locally owned, or have a majority of workers employees that are DC residents.”
This program will allot $6,000 to these small businesses to purchase necessary supplies such as heaters, tents or advertising.
The Bowser Administration will be providing an update on this program and on available health care options for the business community on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 4:00 p.m.. Please RSVP at the eventbrite page.
