Events DC has engaged DC General Construction to begin sidewalk and road repairs on the Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Memorial Campus as of Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Work will include:
- Replacement of the existing asphalt sidewalk along Oklahoma Avenue between The Fields entrance and C Street.
- Repaving the access road to the auxiliary fields.
- Installation of a new pedestrian pathway across the Oklahoma Avenue lawn that will connect the new sidewalk to Lot 6 and provide better access to The Fields complex and campus.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, DC General Construction will mobilize at the site with delivery and staging of asphalt paving equipment.
Construction activities will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7:00 a.m. Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, except Sunday. The project is anticipated to be complete by Sept. 30, weather permitting.
The sidewalk and access road under repair will be temporarily closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic during the period of construction (September 23 through September 30). All work zones will be protected during construction and signage will be posted noting the temporary closures.
The Fields complex, main entrance, auxiliary fields, and other paths/sidewalks not under repair will remain open during construction.
