SOTH Fall Programs Cancelled

COVID-19 Restrictions Prevent Programming

All Sports on The Hill (SOTH family) activities have been cancelled for fall 2020 year. The announcement was received in an email sent Saturday, Sept. 5 by SOTH President Larry Kaufer to the 1500 members.

Kaufer said the cancellation was necessary because of restrictions to control the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, organizations are specifically prohibited from using District athletic fields, preventing SOTH from scheduling programs.

However, DC DPR fields are open for ad-hoc, unpermitted use during normal hours, for public use on a casual basis. Proximity constraints must be respected, including social distancing, wearing of masks, and groups smaller than 10.

The Fields at RFK are open daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for use in periods up to one hour. Staff on site is on duty these times to monitor use within the Mayor’s restrictions.

Kaufer said that SOTH will resume activities as soon as possible. Those with questions or concerns about SOTH programming can reach Kaufer at [email protected] or 202 543 3929.
