By now you’ve probably heard that you should be wearing a face mask basically every time you leave your house. But did you know that you can do it while stanning what is probably DC’s greatest neighborhood and helping our neighbors challenged by homelessness?
The Capitol Hill BID recently revealed their new look logo, celebrating the unique and individual areas that make up the Capitol Hill community. You can represent your neighborhood on a mask, a face gaiter, t-shirt, hat and more! But you’ve got to hurry –the fundraiser ends Thursday, August 6.
The funds go to support Ready, Willing and Working (RWW) a program that provides opportunities to the hardest to serve homeless population — single, able-bodied adults, the majority of whom have histories of incarceration and substance addiction. 70 percent of participants in RWW remain employed, independently-housed and drug-free after 3 years of entering the program.
Founded by the Capitol Hill BID in 2008, RWW serves nearly all of the Capitol Hill Men in Blue you see around the Hill, and has expanded to include Clean Team staff for the Capitol Riverfront, Adams Morgan and the District Government.
COVID-19 has prevented the annual fundraiser from going ahead for 2020, so the Capitol Hill Swag fundraiser will help fill the unprecedented need created by the pandemic.
Your store purchase ensures that RWW’s supportive services, including case management meetings, relapse prevention, Metro fare cards and other incentives, provide the tools necessary for team members to gain the self-esteem and confidence they need to be successful. Items can be shipped to your home or picked up at the Capitol Hill BID offices (1451 Pennsylvania Ave. SE).
