An 18-year-year old woman is dead and eight others injured after two shootings Thursday June 11th, one on the 200 block of E Street NE, near Union Station and another, larger scene on the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road NE.
Police arrived at the scene on E Street NE around 3:10 a.m. after getting reports after getting a report of a shooting. There they found the woman and a man, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment. The adult male was treated with non-life-threatening injuries.
After all life-saving efforts failed, the woman victim was pronounced dead at hospital. She was identified as 18-year-old Saige Ballard, of Northwest.
Seven Shot on Mount Olivet Road
A few hours earlier that same night, at around 1:14 a.m. seven people were shot in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road, NE. Five victims were adult men and two were juvenile males.
Fifth District officers were in the area when they heard numerous gunshots. Officers on the scene rendered immediate first aid to the victims until the arrival of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The victims were all transported to local hospitals in stable condition.
The 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road NE was closed to vehicles from West Virginia Avenue to Trinidad Avenue NE for five hours Thursday.
These cases are being investigated by police.
