
A man is dead after a late-night car crash on Capitol Hill
The accident happened at around 12:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, just north of the intersection of 11th Street and Independence Avenue SE.
At approximately 12:36 a.m., a speeding car collided with another vehicle. The impact caused a domino effect, and both vehicles hit multiple parked cars.
After the collision, the people in the first car got out and fled on foot, leaving the passenger, who was dying or dead.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DCFEMS) came to the crash scene minutes later and found the passenger left inside of the first vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has not yet been identified and the case remains under investigation.
