For over ten years, the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) has awarded District Sustainability Awards to organizations that are fulfilling the goals of the Sustainable DC Plan.

This year’s awards center on equity more than ever before, recognizing outstanding businesses, individuals and organizations for understanding and responding to current environmental challenges and social disparity in DC to build and support equitable environmental, social and economic initiatives.

Organizations and individuals working to transform environmental systems, training and hiring folks from marginalized communities and economically empowering communities are encouraged to apply.

Award-winners get a video created about their work by DOEE, promotion at the District Sustainability Awards, a banner to highlight their award inside their office or storefront, and promotion on Sustainable DC, DOEE and our partners’ social media.

The application period for the 2020 District Sustainability Awards is open now and will be open until Friday, March 13. Learn more, see examples of past winners and apply here: https://doee.dc.gov/service/district-sustainability-awards

This is not a writing contest. If you need assistance submitting your application, or you are interested in submitting the application over the phone, please contact MaryLynn Wilhere at DOEE’s Urban Sustainability Administration at (202) 535-1939.
