
UPDATE: The start location for the walk has been changed. The walk will now begin at William Rumsey Aquatic Center (635 North Carolina Ave SE). The start time is not affected.
Mayor Muriel Bowser will be walking the Eastern Market neighborhood on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 3:30 p.m., said Ward 6 Liaison for the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services Tyler Williams.
The Mayor is expected to be joined by department and agency representatives, and members of the the local community.
The walk will begin William Rumsey Aquatic Center at 635 North Carolina Ave SE, a change from the original start location near Seward Square. This start location has been updated by the Mayor’s Office. The walk will conclude at Tyler Elementary School (1001 G St. SE).
There will be a press conference at the start of the walk that is expected to focus on District efforts to combat crime in the neighborhood.
The major issues that are expected to be covered during the walk include encampments, behavioral health concerns on the 400 block of Barracks Row (Eighth Street SE) the Eastern Market Metro Park Project, and pedestrian safety around Tyler Elementary.
