A pedestrian that was hit by the driver of a car Friday on H Street has succumbed to his injuries. This is the 23rd traffic fatality in the District this year.
Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating the traffic fatality that took place on Friday, November 15, 2019, in the Unit block of H Street, Northeast.
At around 8:23 p.m. Friday, a green 2015 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound in far left lane of the Unit block of H Street NE.
The pedestrian was crossing the westbound lanes of travel north to south in the middle of the block when the vehicle struck him.
The driver fled the scene of the crash but struck a DC Circulator bus and a parked vehicle in the Unit block of H Street NW. Neither the bus nor the parked car had any passengers.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.
The decedent has been identified as 39-year-old Hubert Hinds, of Silver Spring, MD.
This case remains under investigation.
