Woman Arrested in Canal Street Assault

At about 5:30 p.m. the evening of Sunday, Sept. 15, two people got into a domestic dispute inside a vehicle parked on the 1300 block of Canal Street SW.

During that argument, one of the parties assaulted the other with a knife, cutting the victim several times. The injuries were non-life-threatening.

A witness flagged down a nearby officer. After an on-scene investigation the woman that had assaulted the victim with a knife was placed under arrest.

At 3:12 a.m. Saturday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon inside a specialty store on the 900 block of H Street NE.

At 2:36 p.m. Saturday, a car was stolen on the unit block of 22nd Street NE.

At 7:14 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 800 block of Bladensburg Roade NE on charges of Driving Under the Influence.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, a woman was arrested on the 1300 block of Constitution Avenue NE on charges of Simple Assault.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
