A man has been arrested after assaulting a woman with a brick on Seward Square early Saturday morning.
The victim told officers that she was walking on the 300 block of Sixth Street a few minutes after midnight when the suspect came up and hit her on the right side of the head with a brick. She said the suspect said nothing, but just walked away in another direction.
A 39-year-old resident of Southeast DC was arrested by responding officers.
Wallet Snatcher Arrested by Metro Police
At around 12:30 p.m. a man was walking northbound on the 300 block of 19th Street SE when another pedestrian passed him on the sidewalk. After passing the man, the other pedestrian turned around and smashed the first man in the face, so that he fell on the ground. The assailant took the victim’s wallet and ran towards the metro station, but was captured by Metro Transit Police.
Arrest in Pennsylvania Avenue Armed Robbery
Police announced Sunday that an arrest had been made in an armed robbery that took place on the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE. On Monday, Aug. 5, at around 10:44 a.m., two people were walking down the street when they were approached by an individual who pulled out a handgun and demanded their property. He took their stuff and ran.
A 17-year-old juvenile resident of Northeast DC was arrested the same day.

At 4:40 a.m. Saturday, a woman was arrested on the 400 block of M Street SW on charges of Reckless Driving.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on Columbus Circle NE on charges of Disorderly Conduct.
At 6:41 p.m. Saturday, there was a robbery at a grocery store on the 600 block of H Street NE.
At 10:37 p.m. Saturday, there was a robbery at the CVS at 500 12th Street SE.
At 12:45 p.m. Sunday a man was arrested on the 1800 block of Bay Street SE on charges of Robbery.
At 2:04 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Driving Under the Influence.
There were arrests on charges of Simple Assault:
at 1:36 a.m. Saturday on the 2100 block of G Street NE;
at 12:50 p.m. Sunday on the 700 block of D Street SE;
at 7:50 p.m. Sunday on the 700 block of H Street NE;
at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on the 1600 block of Benning Road NE;
at 5:20 p.m. Sunday on the 700 block of D Street SW.
Reporting Illegal Activity
Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.
When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:
- Brief description of the activity;
- Date, time and location of the activity;
- Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
- Descriptions of vehicles;
- Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
- Your name and contact information.
