The fields are finally ready!
On Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser and Events DC, the District’s convention and sports authority, will celebrate the opening of The Fields at RFK Campus (2400 East Capitol St. SE) with the community.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by a community celebration with activities, live music and refreshments for all residents to enjoy. This moment marks the first completed program element of the RFK Campus Redevelopment Project.
The Fields at RFK Campus include:
- Three multi-purpose turf fields to accommodate kickball, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball and more
- A celebration pavilion
- Restroom facilities
- Playground and picnic area
- Green space, walking/biking paths and improved river access
- Dedicated parking
The 27-acre field complex will be managed by Capitol Riverside Youth Sports Park (CRYSP). CRYSP will be responsible for managing scheduling and field operations and ensuring the utilization of the fields complex for sports clubs, leagues, individuals and other groups seeking to rent and/or use the space. Their responsibilities will also include managing permitting, collecting rent, preparing the fields for use and monitoring daily use. They will also assist with developing operating policies, procedures, schedules and will participate in any community engagement activities related to the fields.
Limited parking for the ribbon-cutting will be available in parking lot 6. Use of public transportation is encouraged.
