On February 17, Reverend Cara Spaccarelli, Rector of Christ Church Capitol Hill (Sixth at G Street SE), announced that she had accepted a call to serve in a similar position at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Carmel, Indiana.

March 31 will be Spaccarelli’s final day at Christ Church (620 G St. SE).

During Spaccarelli’s nearly nine years as the parish’s twenty-eighth rector, the congregation increased membership significantly, more than quadrupled the size of its children’s programs, conducted a successful capital campaign, installed its first new organ in more than 130 years, and put new energy into community and global outreach activities.

The Rector and her husband, Michael Lawyer, have two sons, Riley and Aden, both students at Brent school. March 31 will be Rev. Spaccarelli’s final Sunday presiding at Christ Church.
