Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch announce two arrests have been made regarding a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the 1700 block of Benning Road NE.
At approximately 2:05 p.m. that day, MPD Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. When they got there, officers found three victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported one victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The other two victims were also transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Michael Taylor, of Northeast, DC.
On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, pursuant to DC Superior Court arrest warrants, two Northeast men aged 18 and 21-years, were arrested and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed – Felony Murder.
