At around 10:40 p.m. the night of Saturday, Jan. 19 a suspect entered a car that was running on the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Ave. SE. As the owner approached his car, the suspect pointed a handgun at him and instructed him to drive.
At gunpoint, the victim drove the suspect to the 1200 block of Good Hope Rd. SE. The victim was able to escape the vehicle. The suspect left the vehicle, taking some of the victim’s things with him.
That same day, police arrested a 23-year-old Northeast man and charged with kidnapping and armed robbery. The victim’s property and car were recovered.
Police remind vehicle owners that they should always lock their cars, even while filling the tank or otherwise close by their vehicle.
