Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Friday that due to the hardship DC residents continue to face during the federal government shutdown, free lunch will be offered free to kids aged 18 and under. Lunch will be provided Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at ten DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) locations while the federal government is shutdown.

Kids should simply appear at the designated rec centers. No application or ID is required.

The effort is supported by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), and Child Care Resources, Inc.
