PSA 507 January Community Meeting

Police Service Area (PSA) 507 will hold its next community meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Rosedale Recreation Center (1701 Gales St. NE). PSA 507 covers the area from C Street NE to M Street NE. It runs west to the Anacostia River, and is bordered to the east by 15th Street NE and Bladensburg Road NE to the south and north of Benning Road NE.

The area has seen an increase in gun crime since the last quarter of 2018, driven in part by disagreements between neighborhood gangs, Fifth District Commander Fitzpatrick said at a November 2018 meeting of ANC 6A held to address related community concerns.

PSA 507 was basically unchanged by the MPD Police Boundary Update that took effect Jan. 1, 2019. Learn more about the new boundaries by visiting the MPD presentation online.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.

“As we continue to work with our community in the prevention of crime, we ask that if you see something suspicious you contact us immediately,” says First District Commander Morgan C. Kane, MPA.

The Blotter is based on the reports posted on January 8th, 2019 by the MPD to the 1D Listserv and 5D Listserv.
