Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, June 10, on the 700 block of 12th Street SE.
At approximately 6:43 p.m., members of the First District went to a residence to check on the welfare of the occupant. Once inside, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive adult female suffering from a gunshot wound.
DC Fire and EMS (DCFEMS) came to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 40 year-old Wykeena Ferguson, of Southeast, DC.
Officers are looking for help in locating 48 year-old Xavier Jerome Dunmore, of Southeast. Dunmore is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder While Armed in the fatal shooting of Wykeena Ferguson.
Xavier Jerome Dunmore is described as a 48 year-old black male, 6’2” tall, 280 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Dunmore, who can be seen in the picture below, should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
