An 'I Voted' Sticker is A Ticket to Rewards

Google encourages people to get out and vote. Many local businesses are encouraging voters to participate in the democratic process --and watch the returns --with Election specials. Screenshot: google.com

It’s Election Day! Voters are reporting long lines of citizens committed to taking part in the democratic process despite the rain. Make sure to go to the polling place assigned to your CURRENT District address. Not sure where to vote? You can check it out online at the DC Board of Elections website. Polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Polls will begin reporting at 8:30 p.m.

You can begin to enjoy the fruits of your political participation well before that, however, will Hill bars, restaurants and cafes getting in the spirit and offering specials to voters and to those watching the returns. Don’t forget to snag an ‘I voted’ sticker, which many establishments are this year honoring for discounts and rewards.

Ambar Capitol Hill (523 Eighth St. SE) Is offering specials Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., with everything on the happy hour menu going for $5.

At Barrel (613 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) you can trade your ‘I voted’ sticker for a $1 Old Fashioned until 8:30.

Buffalo and Burgen at Union Market (1309 Fifth St. NE) will offer 50 percent off breakfast orders until 4 p.m. with an ‘I voted’ sticker.

All day long, Ana at District Winery (384 Water St. SE) will give you 20 percent off your total bill if you show your ‘I voted’ sticker.

On H Street, Duffy’s Irish Pub (1016 H St. NE) will give a free pint of Guinness Blonde to anyone sporting an ‘I Voted’ sticker. There will be all-night drink specials and election-themed trivia starting at 8 p.m.

The Pretzel Bakery (257 15 St. SE) will give those who have voted –with or without sticker—a $1 coffee.

Union Pub (201 Massachusetts Ave. NE) chose their special with an online vote: from 5 p.m. until closing, rail drinks go for $3, and special red and blue drinks.
