At approximately 1:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, First District officers responded to reports of the sounds of gunshots on the 1300 block of D Street NE.
When they arrived, they found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said the shots fired in this incident were isolated to one vehicle and no other vehicles or areas appear to have to be targeted.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed, and he was pronounced deceased.
The decedent has been identified as 59-year-old Ezequiel Fernando Jimenez Pinto, of Northeast DC.
This case is being investigated by members of MPD Homicide Branch.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
