Nine local artists present a mixed media art show entitled ‘Women by Women,’ curated by photo artist  Karen Cohen. The show opens Thursday at Corner Store Arts (900 South Carolina Ave. SE).

Cohen was inspired by the recent exhibit at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, ‘Womyn’s House.’ She said she had difficulty with the question, “name five great women artists.” Cohen decided women artists deserve more exposure, so she sent invitations to artists whom she admired and curated the exhibit.

“We work hard at our craft and make memorable art that demands to be seen, collected and shared,” Cohen said.

The show features nine metro-area artists, including Kris Swanson, Karen Cohen,  Kara Hammond, Deborah Conn, Sally Brucker, Danny Conant, Linda Button, Julia Dzikiewicz
Ellen Cornett.

Meet the artists at a reception Sunday September 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The show runs Sept. 27 through Nov. 10, 2018 at Corner Store Arts (900 South Carolina Ave. SE). For more information, visit cornerstorearts.org
