Saturday, September 29th 2018 marks the return of the Barracks Row Fall Festival! Activities and booths at the Eighth Street event blend urban diversity with the curiosities of a small town fair.
The festival gets started at 10:20 a.m. and many run until 5 p.m. This year’s line-up on Center Stage (on the 500 block of Eight Street SE) includes skateboard demonstrations, the Marine Corps Brass Quintet, Noland the Magician and a group of performing Jack Russell Terriers called ‘Jacks are Wild.’
Star Wars characters will be returning to fall fest! Lucas Film Volunteers will be introduced at center stage starting at 1:30 p.m. Fans will want to take the opportunity to meet — and take a selfie with — these visitors from far, far away.
There will be a Kid’s Zone hosted by Miracle Theater on the 500 block of Eighth Street next to the baby animals of the Petting Zoo, where the young and young at heart can meet and touch creatures not regularly found on the streets of Capitol Hill. The donkey procession starts from the petting zoo at 1:30 p.m.
The Military Hospitality Alliance Culinary Contest takes place on the 700 block from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring chefs from well-known locales competing all day in a Black Box contest.
On the 700 block, between G and I Streets NE, kids can explore the DC Water trucks from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. arm wrestling with the ‘Roller Girls’ starting at noon in the 700 block.
There’s so much more to see and do, try and taste at the festival! The full schedule is available on the Barracks Row Main Street site.
