‘Join Scouting Night’ With Pack and Troup 380 September 5th

Capitol Hill Boy Scout Troop 380 will host an information night beginning 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th in Providence Park (Second and E Streets SE) for all boys around the Hill interested in adventuring and scouting.

Parents and leaders will be on hand to answer questions and assist families in completing applications. Representatives from the Scout Store will be selling uniforms, and Boy Scouts from Troop 380 will be demonstrating skills such as fire building and knot tying.

Cub Scouts is open to both boys and girls age 5 to 10, or grades K through 5.  Troop 380 is open to boys age 11 to 17, or grades six through twelve.  Starting in February 2019 girls may join, too.

Both the Troop and Pack 380 are chartered by St. Peter’s Catholic Church located at 313 2nd Street, SE.

Scouts come from a variety of backgrounds and schools, including St. Peter’s, Maury, Brent, Basis, Two Rivers, SWS, and home school. Scouts typically participate in one den meeting and one pack meeting a month.

Pack 380 is focused on preparing boys for Boy Scouts through outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and service projects.  Troop 380 Scouts meet weekly on Wednesdays and most months, the Troop go on a weekend outdoor trip.

Boy Scouts, a nationwide organization, helps teach its members the values of leadership, physical fitness, character development, civic responsibility and outdoor skills. Troop 380 meets each Wednesday promptly at 7:15 p.m. in the basement of St. Peter’s Church. The group plans camping trips, white water rafting, winter skiing, bicycle trips, mountain hiking, community service and a summer camp.

‘Join Scouting Night’ takes place 6:30 p.m. Wednesday September 5th, at Providence Park in the 400 Block of Second Street SE. The inclement weather location will be St. Peter Catholic Church Hall (313 Second Street SE).
